American Legion Auxiliary Stewart Unit 24 offers scholarships for local Manatee County high school and Nursing students!
LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS:
Each year the American Legion Auxiliary Kirby Stewart Unit 24 encourages local high school students to apply for various available scholarships.
The American Legion Department of Florida offers several scholarships. Eligibility requirements, deadlines and application forms are available online at www.alafl.org/scholarships/. If applications are being processed through local Unit 24 Kirby Stewart, all documents must be submitted by January 31, 2024. Applications may be submitted online to lizstreb@icloud.com or paper applications may be sent to: Liz Streb, American Legion Auxiliary, 2000 75th St. W., Bradenton, FL 34209.
Other scholarship applications, sponsored by The American Legion, can be found at www.legion.org/scholarships. For several of these scholarships, membership in the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary is not required.
In addition to the above scholarships, Kirby Stewart Unit 24 is sponsoring two scholarships, $2,000 each, for students enrolled in a Nursing Program in the State of Florida. This application will be available on the local website, alaunit24.org , after January 1, 2024. Applications will be due in the ALA office by Thursday, March 28, 2024.
NURSING STUDENT:
We are privileged to be able to offer two, $2,000 scholarships for students, from our area, that are enrolled in a Nursing Program in the State of Florida.
Applicants will be selected according to academic record and need. Special consideration is given to students involved in Community Service supporting Americanism, National Security, Veteran Affairs & Rehabilitation, and/or Children and Youth.
Preference is given to students that are members of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 24 and/or family members of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 24, as well as members of the American Legion Post 24 and/or Sons of the American Legion Post 24. Membership, however, is not required to apply for this scholarship.
The following materials must be submitted by Thursday, March 28, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.

* College transcript
* Letter of recommendation by a teacher or counselor
The application maybe submitted on-line. We request the transcript and the letter of recommendation be forwarded by email to the Scholarship Chair, Liz Streb at lizstreb@icloud.com. Decisions will be made by mid-April.
